Initial Consultation Visit
What is an Orthodontic Consultation?
When you arrive at your appointment you will be greeted and introduced to one of our team members who will gather some information about you that is required for our new patients. During the consultation you will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Byron Tam, and his staff that are always ready and available to answer any questions or concerns to help you feel more comfortable. The purpose of a consultation is for Dr. Byron Tam to do a complete orthodontic evaluation to determine if orthodontic therapy is recommended. If it is determined that treatment is needed, you will be given an estimate of the total treatment cost, including any financing options or payment plan arrangements. If dental insurance is being used, we can explain and review your orthodontic insurance coverage and benefits during this time. Any recommended appliances, such as retainers, braces, or expanders, will also be described in detail.
During your consultation:
At our office, we’re dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality care, and we’ll take all the time necessary to answer any questions you have and ensure you fully understand your orthodontic situation and treatment options. Dr. Tam will complete a thorough evaluation, and check for any orthodontic conditions or issues. During your appointment we will:
-
Complete an assessment of your teeth to determine if orthodontic treatment is recommended.
-
Determine if treatment should be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption, or other factors have occurred.
-
Review the benefits of orthodontic treatment, and develop customized goals.
-
Discuss the treatment procedures necessary to correct the orthodontic issue.
-
Explain the sequence of treatment, and what to expect during and after treatment.
-
Decide whether you will need other dental services to reach optimal oral health.
-
Decide the appropriate time to begin treatment.
-
Determine approximately how long the duration of treatment will take to complete.
-
Determine the total cost of your orthodontic care.
What to bring to your first orthodontic appointment:
In order for your first visit to run as efficiently as possible, we request that you please bring the following information to your appointment:
-
Your license ID
-
The name of your general dentist, and the date of your last dental exam & cleaning (if applicable).
-
Dental insurance information (if applicable).
What is the Cost of the Treatment?
The cost depends upon the extent and type of treatment necessary to complete the patient’s orthodontic care. During the initial exam, if treatment is recommended, one of our team members will discuss treatment fees, and payment options that are available. We will do our best to try and create a payment plan to suit your budget. We work hard to make orthodontics more affordable.
Orthodontic Appointments
Appointment times are reserved specifically for each patient to ensure we provide enough time for the orthodontist to complete your evaluation, review information regarding any treatment recommendations and answer any questions you may have. If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know as soon as possible. We understand unexpected circumstances may arise, so we do not charge a cancellation or missed appointment fee. We just ask that you contact us, so we are able to refill the appointment or offer it to someone else who may be requesting that time. We work hard to stay on schedule to avoid any wait times for our patients. In order for us to maintain a schedule that runs in a timely manner, we request that patients arrive on time to avoid delays, as the day progresses. Your cooperation and consideration with appointments is greatly appreciated by our office and the patients that are seen after your appointment.
